Independence Pass is one of the most exhilarating mountain pass drives that everyone should experience when visiting Colorado. For guests that select The Crestwood as their Snowmass Lodging choice in the summer, they will be delighted to know that this route will cut some time off of their drive from Denver and provide remarkable scenery along the way, but should be aware that the road is closed to traffic during the winter months.

Independence Pass is not only a scenic byway, it that also presents abundant recreational opportunities to passersby and visitors to the Aspen/Snowmass area. There are numerous hikes for all levels. Enjoy a quick walk thru the Grottos area or spend an entire day hiking Lost Man Loop or summit one of the numerous mountains in the area. Other attractions include camping, fishing, rock climbing, biking and ample opportunities to photograph the beautiful landscape of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This local recreational area should not be missed.

Want more details? Our staff has plenty of information and recommendations for activities on Independence pass.

Aspen/Snowmass recieved our first snowfall of the season on September 17th. The contrast of the burning gold of the aspen trees and the snow capped peaks surrounding Snowmass Village has provided some excellent photo opportunities thruought the Roaring Fork Valley.

Hello from The Crestwood,

It is that time of year again when we start shifting gears towards our busy winter ski season and start thinking snow here at The Crestwood. Before we do however, we get to experience fall in Colorado, which provides some of the best weather of the year to get outside for a hike, take to the trails on your bicycle or spend time on the river catching trout before the snow starts to fly. In this newsletter we will be posting some fall photos from last year that will hopefully get you motivated to spend some time in Aspen/Snowmass this fall and take some photos of your own.

Come visit The Crestwood this fall and experience the crisp mountain air and beautiful fall foliage that engulfs Snowmass Village each year.

Contact our Reservations Department and ask us about the fall colors so you can plan your escape during the height of the leaves changing from green to their brilliant amber and gold.

Take some time to visit Maroon Bells next time you are in Aspen/Snowmass. The natural beauty up there turns everyone in to a professional photographer.  It is only a quick …. drive, ask us for directions.
