Aspen, CO is described by many as the quintessential American ski town. It boasts Ajax (Aspen) Mountain steeply escalating right from downtown, hundreds of dining and nightlife options and all of the glitz and glamour of a big city all in a small mountain town. Aspen was founded like most other Colorado mountain towns, as a mining town in the late 1800’s during the Colorado silver boom which lasted only 10 years. The town finally found its current reputation as a world class ski resort in 1946 when the Aspen Skiing Company was formed.
The “Big City” as it is often referred to here in the Roaring Fork Valley, provides guests of Snowmass Village with great additional options for dining and nightlife. Most visitors looking for ski-in/ski-out lodging in a quaint mountain town choose Snowmass as their destination, but it doesn’t hurt that Aspen is a quick (& FREE) 20 minute bus ride away with buses running until 2:15 AM. For those looking to partake in the shopping, dining and nightlife with the Hollywood elite…Aspen has got you covered.
